Barclays Wealth Taps Merrill for Senior NRI Advisor

Barclays Wealth has appointed Bobby Kapur as a director in Barclays Private Bank's non resident Indian team after poaching him from Merrill Lynch, where he had been a senior private client advisor in the NRI market for two years. Mr Kapur previously worked at Morgan Stanley in Singapore as a senior private banker specialising in the NRI market. From September 2006 Mr Kapur, who will be London-based, will deal with ultra high net worth families in Europe, the Middle, East and Asia. The non resident Indian team reports to Michael Morley, managing director of Barclays International Private Bank. “I am delighted to welcome Bobby to Barclays Wealth. Bobby has an impressive track record in private banking and a strong investment background. He brings with him an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the non resident Indian marketplace which will be invaluable in helping us look after our existing client base, as well as continuing the expansion of our non resident Indian offering across Europe, the Middle East and Asia - a key growth market for our business,” said Thomas Kalaris, chief executive, Barclays Wealth.
